A-two-day training on “How to conduct evidence based advocacy for the rule of law and good governance” organized by the “Protection of Rights without Borders” NGO took place on June 8, 9 in Sevan.
The training was conducted by Annamaria Kekesi, expert of International Centre for Democratic Transition of Hungary and adviser, expert of “Partners for democratic changes” NGO Zora Pauliniova.
The event was attended by participants from Armenia and Georgia representing the following non-governmental organizations: “Disarmament and Nonviolence”, NGO New Vector Lawyer NGO, organization “Regional association of Youth Initiatives ‘ –“AIRA” NGO, Civil Forum for Peace, Bridge of Friendship Kartlosi NGO, World Vision Georgia, EU TA Project Georgia, NGO – “Neophiles Club”, Georgian Bar Association, International Centre of Human Development, NGO “PINK Armenia, Transparency International Armenia, Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Center, Association of Municipal Lawyers Helsinki Committee of Armenia, Spitak Helsinki Group, “Progress of Gyumri” Civil Society Development Center NGO, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor NGO, Syunik schoolchildren educational NGO.
During the training, a manual on “Campaign creation based on evidence based advocacy in Eastern Partnership countries” elaborated by the experts was presented to the event participants in English, Armenian and Georgian.

The concept of advocacy, its components, strategy, good governance, techniques to use in regard to good governance based on evidence based advocacy, as well as best practice on advocacy are presented in the handbook.
In the manual, the importance is given to the advocacy during the policy making process which follows an aim to impact the opinion of society or the decision makers so that the latter accept the efficient policy opinion and take measures to implement that approach.
During the training, Anamaria Kekesi highlighted the fact, that during the advocacy campaign, the implementation of such activities, which will later be rejected, is unaccepted.
It should be noted, that only real aims should be mentioned, which will be possible to implement. It is necessary to wait for the right time period to reach the project objective avoiding harming anybody.
Right communication is an important factor for the implantation of advocacy.
During the training, the participants were involved in team practice work.

Within the framework of the project, trainings on “Rule of law, civil oversight over courts”, “Participatory monitoring and evaluation of good governance” were conducted.
Note that after the end of the trainings that the organization drifts to the practical stage of the project during which practice works /monitoring/ will be conducted with the direct involvement of participants.
